Yiwu sourcing agent fees in 2026: what’s normal and what’s hidden

Short answer. Most Yiwu agents publish 3–10% of the goods value. Small orders pay more — usually a minimum fee of about US$100–200 or a higher percentage. Very low rates (1–2%) on small orders mean the agent is paid somewhere else: rebates from suppliers, mark-ups in unit prices, or freight margins.

Published rates, October 2026

These are the rates agents publish themselves or that appear in a 2026 comparison of ten Yiwu agents. They change, so confirm with the agent.

Where the hidden costs are

  • Rebates in the unit price. A booth can add the agent’s “commission” to your price, so you pay it without seeing it. Warning signs: the agent won’t name the supplier, insists on being the only contact, or prices rise once the agent is involved.
  • “Free” service. A $0 fee usually means the cost sits in unit prices. Ask for the supplier’s own quotation.
  • Freight and consolidation. Per-CBM charges can include repacking and storage margins. Ask what the rate covers and when storage starts.
  • Day rates and extras. Market guiding or translation at US$150–200 per day, sample fees, inspection fees, hotel transport.

How to compare two quotes

  1. Ask each agent for the supplier’s original quotation and a written no-rebate policy.
  2. Get one direct quote from a booth for the same item as a baseline.
  3. Compare landed cost (goods + fee + freight + duty), not the headline percentage.
  4. Ask for supplier names and booth numbers from the first order — you will want them for re-orders.
