How to write a sourcing request that gets accurate quotes
Short answer. Send a photo or link, the quantity per design, where it ships and when you need it. Add a target price,
the key specification and any certificate your market needs. That is enough for a supplier to quote the real price at your quantity.
The six things that change the price
- A photo or link — the fastest way to show the exact item.
- Quantity per design or colour — MOQ and price depend on it.
- Destination country — decides certificates, plugs and labels.
- Deadline — stock items ship in days; production takes weeks.
- Specification — size, material, capacity, power.
- Branding and packing — logo method, retail box, barcode labels.
A request that gets a fast, accurate quote
“Silicone phone cases for iPhone 17 and 17 Pro, 6 colours, 300 pcs per model per colour, logo
silk-screened, OPP bag with our barcode. Ship to Germany by sea, needed in our warehouse by mid-February. Target under €1.20 per piece.
No certificates needed; please send the material specification.”
A request that gets a vague answer
“Hi, we need phone cases, what is your best price?”
